The cappuccino is named after the color of the habit of the Capuchin monks (cappuccio means 'hood' in Italian), or perhaps the appearance of his tonsure (a circle of white skin surrounded by a ring of brown hair). According to legend, after the Battle of Vienna in 1683, the Viennese coffee prepared using the bags abandoned by the Turks and to soften its strong flavor, cream and honey added, obtaining a similar habit of the Capuchin color. The drink has always been known by its Italian name, since the espresso machine with which is usually done is an Italian invention. The 1901 patent is Luigi Bezzera. The cappuccino spread throughout Europe, becoming popular and gaining its final form in 1950.
